Music Camp for String Players
With instructors from the Hanover Symphony Orchestra
The Eichelberger Music Camp for String Players, a day-camp for violin, viola, cello, and double bass players entering grades 6 – 10 in the fall of 2025, will take place at the Eich the week of August 4, 2025 during the hours of 9:00 am until 12:00 noon, with a culminating performance at 2:00 pm on Friday August 8, 2025. Students will spend the week playing in the Summer Camp Orchestra and chamber ensembles, as well as participating in instrument masterclass demonstrations by members of the Hanover Symphony Orchestra, ear-training classes, small-group musicianship training, and individual technique instruction.
Topics in ensembles and classes will include, but are not limited to, proper playing position and posture, music literacy, simple and compound rhythm, finger patterns and techniques, bow markings and techniques, tone production, and non-verbal communication/teamwork in both small and large ensemble settings. The Director of the Eichelberger Music Camp for String Players is Larry Kuntz, Music Director of the Hanover Symphony Orchestra and a 35-year veteran teacher/string specialist in the public schools of PA and NY, including 10 years in the Hanover Public School District and 21 years in the South Western School District. The camp’s Assistant Director is Susan Gross, Assistant Conductor and Principal Viola of the Hanover Symphony Orchestra who has just completed her 35 th year as String Specialist in the Spring Grove Area School District. Various Hanover Symphony Orchestra musicians will visit the camp during Masterclass/Demonstration hour to offer advice on how to become a great performer as a soloist, chamber players, and Orchestra member.
